Our School

Our school is situated in the large and pleasant village of Yaxley, five miles from Peterborough and just two miles from the A1 motorway.

Our Classes

At Yaxley Infant School, we provide education for children aged 4 to 7 years. Our classes are carefully organised to meet the needs of our children and ensure a smooth progression through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1.

Robins Class

Robins is our Reception class. Children in Robins follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, learning through a balance of play, exploration and carefully planned adult-led activities. We focus on developing communication and language, physical development, personal and social skills, early reading, writing and mathematics, while fostering confidence, independence and a love of learning.

Owls Class

Owls is our mixed Reception and Year 1 class. Children benefit from a carefully planned curriculum that meets the needs of both year groups. Reception children continue their EYFS learning journey, while Year 1 children build on the strong foundations established in Reception as they move into Key Stage 1. The mixed-age environment provides valuable opportunities for collaboration, independence and peer support.

Kites Class

Kites is our Year 1 class. Children continue to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding through a broad and engaging Key Stage 1 curriculum. A strong emphasis is placed on reading, phonics, writing and mathematics, alongside a rich curriculum that includes science, history, geography, art, design technology, computing and physical education.

Peacocks Class

Peacocks is one of our Year 2 classes. As children move into their final year at Yaxley Infant School, they continue to develop increasing independence, confidence and resilience. Learning builds on the strong foundations established in Reception and Year 1, preparing children for a successful transition to junior school.

Starlings Class

Starlings is our second Year 2 class. Children deepen their knowledge and skills across the curriculum, applying their learning with growing confidence and independence. Alongside strengthening reading, writing and mathematics, pupils enjoy a wide range of enriching experiences that nurture curiosity, creativity and a love of learning.

Preparing for the Future

Across all classes, we are committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious learning environment where every child can thrive. Our curriculum equips children with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for the next stage of their education, while creating happy memories and a lifelong love of learning.
