Our tortoises, Tommy and Timmy, play an important role in our therapeutic provision. Through Tommy and Timmy Time, children have the opportunity to care for the tortoises, helping to feed and water them and ensure their environment is well looked after. Taking responsibility for the animals supports children in developing empathy, nurturing skills and a sense of responsibility. These calm and purposeful interactions can promote emotional wellbeing, build confidence and encourage communication, while providing a positive and therapeutic experience for children who benefit from additional support.
