Attendance

At Yaxley Infant School, we believe that good attendance is essential for children to achieve their full potential. Regular attendance helps children build positive relationships, develop confidence, establish routines and make the most of every learning opportunity.

We work in partnership with families to ensure that all children attend school regularly and arrive on time each day. Even a small amount of missed learning can have an impact on children's progress, wellbeing and sense of belonging within the school community.

We encourage all pupils to:

  • Attend school every day unless they are genuinely unwell.
  • Arrive on time and ready to learn.
  • Develop positive habits that support lifelong learning and success.

Why Attendance Matters

Children who attend school regularly:

  • Make better progress academically.
  • Develop stronger friendships and social skills.
  • Feel more connected to their school community.
  • Build positive routines and resilience.
  • Are better prepared for the next stage of their education.

Working Together

We understand that there may be times when families need support with attendance. Our staff work closely with parents and carers to identify and overcome barriers to attendance, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.

If your child is unwell or unable to attend school, please contact the school office as soon as possible on the first day of absence.

Our Attendance Aim

We encourage all children to achieve attendance of 96% or above and celebrate positive attendance and punctuality throughout the year.

Together, we can ensure that every child benefits from the rich learning experiences and opportunities available at Yaxley Infant School.
