British Science Week 2025

To celebrate British Science Week 2025, children across Yaxley Infant School took part in a whole-school scientific enquiry:

"What will happen to a jelly baby if it is left in water for 48 hours?"

The investigation encouraged children to think like scientists by making predictions, observing changes and discussing their findings. Throughout the enquiry, pupils developed a range of scientific skills, including questioning, observing over time, measuring and recording results.

Each class shared their learning through their Floor Books, and the outcomes were showcased in a whole-school display, celebrating the fantastic scientific thinking demonstrated by our children.

As part of the British Science Week theme of 'Change and Adapt' (or use the correct annual theme if preferred), children also enjoyed completing and sharing weekend challenges linked to growth. Families supported learning at home by uploading photographs and observations to Tapestry, which children then proudly shared with their classmates.
