At Yaxley Infant School, RE develops pupils’ curiosity about themselves, others and the diverse world around them. From EYFS onwards, children explore different religions, beliefs and worldviews, making connections with their own experiences, families and traditions.

Our carefully sequenced curriculum builds knowledge and vocabulary over time. Creative RE days and opportunities to experience different religious festivals bring learning to life and help our children revisit and embed key vocabulary and concepts.

Throughout the year, we celebrate a range of cultural and religious events, including Diwali, Eid and Christmas, helping children to develop a deeper understanding of different faiths, traditions and ways of life. These immersive experiences allow children to explore stories, food, music, art, celebrations and customs from different cultures, bringing their learning to life in a meaningful and memorable way.

We provide an inclusive environment where pupils feel confident to ask questions, explore similarities and differences, and develop respect for different beliefs, cultures and traditions. Through RE, children become thoughtful, curious and respectful members of our diverse community.

Parents have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education lessons. We encourage parents to discuss any concerns with the Headteacher in the first instance. If a parent wishes to withdraw their child, alternative arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the school.
