Phonics
Can I catch you out this morning? Have a go at reading the graphemes and saying it out loud. See if you can say it before I do!
Can you be a grapheme detective and spot our new digraphs in the words? You can write them down and add sound buttons to them if you need to!
What do you think our new sound is for today? Look at the pictures to help and as always, write the words afterwards to match the pictures if you want to.
Can you read the real and alien words?
Use the phoneme frame.
Say the word 'will'
Build it - can you write it in the phoneme frame, 'w' in the first box, 'i' in the second box and 'll' third box.
Blend it - point to each sound, say it and then blend the word together.
Read it - this time, just read the word without blending it.
Do the same for 'w-i-th' , 'th-i-s' , 'd-ow-n'
Write these words on small pieces of paper or card and show the words to your child throughout the day and see if they can read them without needing to blend it. Keep a little bank of these words to show over the next few days. Hopefully they will then recognise these words when reading and this will help with their fluency.
