Maths
This week for Maths we are learning about our numbers to 20. We will be focusing on place value. We will be looking at the 'teen' numbers and thinking about how each number is made up, for example 12, 1 ten and 2 ones. We will be reading and writing numbers to 20.
Tomorrow we will be looking at representing teen numbers using a mixture of resources found within our outdoor environment, some of which will be natural to represent our teens numbers.
I have uploaded some blank tens frames, or your child could make some. But you could also ask your child to pick a teens number and represent it using objects you can find at home, for example pasta shells, sweets, buttons, cubes or beads. Repeat this process several times to represent different teen numbers.
Here is a link for a number song to get your child thinking about their teens numbers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W5aYi3lkho
White Rose Maths has some good resources you can use at home with your child. Here is the link for White Rose Maths: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/week-11-number-place-value-within-20/
I have also uploaded a number formation sheet, you could ask your child to practice writing their numbers to 20.
