History

Thank you for all your wonderful questions last week, we are hoping to answer lots of them over the coming weeks in our space topic!

To begin with, we are going to be looking at travelling into space. In English earlier, we were reading Whatever Next! where Baby Bear used a cardboard box to go into space. Do you think this would work? What would you really need?

Last May, two astronauts called Bob and Doug were launched into space. Here is a clip of it: (This clip is very long and you may want to skip parts. The beginning is about Bob and Doug and their entry into the space rocket. The actual launch is at 13 minutes. After this, you can see them travelling into space and begin to float around.)

Have a look at the picture with the dinosaur. Did you spot 'Tremor' the Apatosaurus in the video clip? Did you know... astronauts often take a toy into space with them to indicate where weightlessness kicks in, when they start to float!

Can you find out any more interesting facts about space? You might want to have a look in a space fact book if you have one at home, or here are some suggested websites:

Happy researching :)
