We have put together some suggested activities for the children to have a go at each day.

Phonics - Please access the website Spelling Shed ( and login using your child's username and password. Challenges have been set for you. If your login details are unknown please contact your child's class teacher via e-mail and they will send these across for you.

Reading - please continue with your usual reading for 20 minutes each day. You can access books in-line with the children's phonics level on the website Oxford Owl ( or alternatively you can read lovely picture books you may have at home or access online tools such as Cbeebies Storytime App or YouTube which has many read aloud stories.

English Challenge - Today we'd like you to write a letter to a friend or family member. Can you write their address on the front of the envelope and post it in a post box, if possible?

Maths Challenge - Today we'd like you to practise counting in 2's and 5's. Can you draw round your hand and write the multiples of 5 each time? Can you use objects in your house to count in 2's? i.e. socks! 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20...

Science Challenge - Today we'd like you to pick a habitat and draw it, including animals that would live there. For example, you could draw a woodland and draw squirrels, badgers, foxes etc. If you have access to a printer, you could print photographs of these animals off.

Please look at the Year 1 Activity Passport for other ideas you can do throughout the day.

Don't forget to get outside for some fresh air (The website 'Outdoor Classroom' has some great ideas if you'd like to take a look. ( and complete the P.E. challenges.

45 bounce catch in one minute.
Hop from one side of the garden to other using two feet.
Hop 30 times in a row.
Skip 5 times using a skipping rope.
Skip across from one side of the garden to the other.
