Today in class we are looking at the "ay" sound. It is a digraph. Two letters one sound. Look at the letter wall. What sounds can you remember? Please practise saying your sounds.

Now you have to be very clever and spot the graphemes in the words rain, light, deep & coat. What digraphs can you see? Which word contains a trigraph? [3 letters one sound]. Can you place the sound buttons in for each word and read the word back? 

Then look at the next slide. The pictures that you can see contain our sound of the day which is "ay". Can you sound talk the word to match the picture?  Can you hear all the sounds in play? Now build the word, write it and then place your sound buttons in. Then read the word back. Can you repeat for the other words? 

Now read the real and alien words. 

Finally use your phonic knowledge to read the yes/no questions.
